For Family and Friends
Is Your Loved One a Resident at the MI Nursing/Restorative Center?
Here are answers to frequently asked questions:
Visiting
Visits from family, friends and children are encouraged, and at MI Nursing/Restorative Center, visiting hours are unrestricted. Many residents participate in activities or therapies in the morning, so often the hours between noon and 8PM are best for socializing.
Tips When Visiting
- Visits are very important and appreciated by most residents, even when the expected stay is short-term. Seeing family and friends is important way to stay in touch, and to provide an opportunity for residents to express emotions, share experiences, make plans and to simply enjoy a social experience.
- Many of our residents are frail. If you have a cold or flu, please delay your visit until you are well.
- Often visitors like to bring small gifts when visiting. When selecting a gift, it’s best to keep the gift small, personal and simple. Some suggestions include flowers or a plant (with instructions for care); a book or favorite magazine; stationery, stamps, and address labels; and personal care items such as a favorite lotion (keeping in mind any skin allergies).
- We suggest checking with nursing if you would like to bring your loved one food items as there may be dietary restrictions to consider. For cleanliness and safety reasons, we do not recommend storing food in residents' rooms.
Business Office
Our business office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to assist residents and family members with any financial needs. Family members are encouraged to contact us if there are questions or concerns about billing matters.
Chaplaincy/Pastoral Care Services
The Chaplaincy Team provides opportunities for worship, meditation, small group prayer, and counseling. Chaplains are available to pray with you and to offer friendly listening, encouragement and companionship. They will also make arrangements for you to receive the Sacraments, according to your desires. Mass is celebrated at the MI Nursing/Restorative Center every Wednesday at 2:30PM in the Residents’ Activities Room. Family members are encouraged to join residents and staff at Mass.
Our goal is to support and nurture the unique spiritual journey of each resident and their family. In addition to the MI Pastoral Team, clergy of all other denominations are most welcome and are encouraged to visit at MI to minister to the spiritual needs of residents.
