St. Michael Parish - North Andover Honored for Service to Elders

Awarded St. Marguerite d'Youville "Pilgrimage of Love Award" By Mary Immaculate Health/Care Services

Each year, at the Evening of Sharing and Caring, an individual or group is honored for outstanding commitment to community and service by Mary Immaculate Health/Care Services. Named for the founder of the Grey Nuns, St. Marguerite d'Youville, the Pilgrimage of Love Award honors a person or organization that leads the way in the journey of love and service, and gives far more to the community than they receive.
"When we were considering nominees for this honor this year," says Barbara Grant, MI CEO and President, "one organization truly stood out, and we are pleased to recognize the significant contributions of St. Michael Parish - North Andover."

The presentation of the Pilgrimage of Love Award was made during the annual gala held at the Andover Country Club. The evening was made possible through the generous event sponsorships of Unidine Corporation and the James W. O'Brien Foundation. See Gala Photos here.

A steady presence in the community, St. Michael Parish has been a prayerful center of praise and thanksgiving for over 125 years, and has been and continues to be the spiritual home where the faithful, young and old, celebrate the Sacraments of the Church. It has also been a place of healing presence in times of great crises with a tradition of reaching out to those in need.

Today, a thousand volunteers, young and old, share their gifts and talents with the parish and the wider community in over 60 ministries by feeding the hungry, bringing comfort to those who are hurting, sharing their faith with people of all ages, reaching out in hospitality to those in need.

Mary Immaculate Health/Care Services has experienced first hand the compassion and generosity of this extraordinary parish. During the May, 2006 flood, the pastoral team of Fr. John Delaney, Fr. Paul Keyes, and Fr. Jerry Hogan stepped forward to provide a healing prayer service for all Mary Immaculate employees offering calm, spiritual guidance that helped the staff gather the strength to face the challenges ahead.. The parishioners of St. Michael Parish provided extraordinary financial support to assist in the reconstruction effort, and when residents returned to the refurbished facility four months later, it once again was the priests of St. Michael Parish who came forward to share in the joyful re-opening. Today, priests and parishioners continue to serve the MI community by celebrating Mass and by sharing the Eucharist with the residents each week.
